Awesome vacation!
I'm back to the city after 9 days in the jungle (Bandipur for 3 days and Kabini for 6 days.) I got everything I had hoped for and even got an awesome birthday present - a male tiger in a water hole and at the other end of the same pool, a bull elephant playing in the water, both in absolute peace.

I'll post more about the trip and the awesome sightings I had a little later.

A female tiger at Bolgudda in Bandipur.

Damn! Am envious of your strength. Me wants to take a week off to but to chill out (read do nothing). Really amazing that you can do all of this in a vacation

The photo doesn't reveal its sex, I think?
Yathinyathin on April 26th, 2005 06:36 am (UTC)
Of course it does. The males have a beautiful ruff of hair around their necks. You can tell the sex of the tiger even by their pug marks - males tend to have a squarish pug mark (length and breath nearly the same) and females have a more rectangular appearance, with their middle toes slightly longer.

Mother of God! That's one nice photograph. Six days at Kabini? That's close to a dream vacation! Your bird list posted on bngbirds was impressive too.

Very majestic looking fellow. You are either very lucky or very patient. Or both:-)
