Dead Pelican  
Every once in a while you come across something unexpected on the trails. Dark clouds loomed in the east, and the Sierra in the west was behind a veil of fog and rain. Mono Lake was not blue, or green or turquoise like it is on an ordinary day. There was an ominous calm. The storm had arrived.

The black-and-white has made a kind of surreal M C Escher woodcut of the image...I am going to post my pedestrian shot (by the way, I didn't have the heart to take the dead face, somehow) and give the link to this post, where people can see what CAN be done with the photographs, that lifts images from the mere level of documentation, to art.
