Coyote HDR
I was telling someone this morning to try HDR on one of their photographs and I realized I had never tried that myself since I bought my new Mac. Never too late to try, right? So, I downloaded Qtpfsgui and picked out one of the images I hadn't processed before just to try this out. I had never gotten around to processing pictures from the Yosemite trip in February, so I picked a photograph and began experimenting with the new software. I think I like the desaturated version of this coyote.

hmmm... perhaps not because you're not pixels of different exposure levels.

maybe i'm just closed-minded about what photography should be. :) it looks too constructed to me. sure it "pops", but it doesn't look "real" the way my eyes would see it IRL. old school photography has its own charm even if it can never accurately capture the intensity of reality. but then that's why you have the option to put the camera down and "record" memories instead, truly in HDR. :)

or maybe i'll get used to HDR soon and forget i ever thought this about it.

Yep, HDR looks too artificial and that's one of the reasons I don't do it. This time though, it was just an experiment and I can say that not many (any?) of my future photographs are going in that direction. :-)
