Wile E. Coyote
All of us who've watched the Road Runner Show seem to love the Coyote. My case of trying get a decent photograph of the Coyote has been like playing the part of the Coyote and the Coyote being in the Road-runner's shoes. I didn't quite go through all the pain and trouble Mr. Wile E. Coyote endured, but the result's been the same: a few half-baked shots and multi-second views. Not good. On this trip to Yosemite, I wasn't expecting any wildlife sightings because of all the snow and ice, but I was in for a surprise when I noticed a mammal running across the icy meadow. I quickly took a lot of snaps from the distance with awfully bad camera settings without realizing my stupidity. And as I looked in disgust at the awful images I had made, the Coyote came up and sat three feet from the us and looked into the car. I quickly changed the settings to what they should be and the Coyote turned out to be not so Wile E. after all for he sat patiently and roamed around in the meadows as if he was modeling for me and the rest of the Yosemite visitors who lined up to snap up his photographs. Just an amazing, amazing experience. Thank you!

The Coyote moves in for the kill... :-)

Attack mode. Target: Get to the food before the Ravens do. Mission accomplished. (only because the Roadrunner wasn't around)

"Oh look, there are visitors today"

Do all Coyotes love to people watch?

Something interesting?

The stance that could get first prize in any dog show!

It was amazing to see it wade through deep snow...

Lazy guy with a snowman in the background! :-)

Isn't he a beauty?

When he sat just next to the car.

Wow! He is a beauty, Yathin. Very nice photos. Isn't it wonderful that he decided to be your model for a while? Sometimes our wildlife friends do cooperate for their own reasons, bless them. Remember the squirrels at our house? That was perfect, too.

Keep up the good work!

It will be Springtime soon. Maybe you can return here in May or June. The birds are terrific then.

Nice. I see that the fourth pic here is the first pic in the photos of you taking the shot. I think that's why there's the beautiful off center look.

Re: Wow
the fourth one is just named coy1. i think the yawn picture is the oldest in this lot. Of course, over a 100 images went to the dumps because i had some awful landscape settings and all of those looked like they came out of a 1990s cell phone camera. :-)

Wonderful, Yathin....thank you so much.

I have to say it again, Yathin. Just been looking..and looking...at the shots, and the majesty of the animal as well as the clarity of the photography.

We are lucky to have you there!

you should have seen the first hundred or so images - they were like they had been taken in a 1990s cell phone camera. :-) thankfully this guy stayed with us till I realized my stupidity... :-)

It's awesome fun when animals seem to cooperate. :-)

Wow! The coyote looks so healthy and beautiful! You got so close pics. lucky you!

I think animals understand humans and their cameras. In one of the trips last year also I felt the same that the animals were giving poses for us to to take pics.

In Colorado the coyotes are known for being fairly friendly and curious, quite prone to people watching. I just love these pictures though, particularly his toothy yawn.
Hi! I'm an old childhood friend of kejn's, and I'm friending you!

oh! i didn't notice it before, but it looks like the snowman has a snowdog (or a snow-coyote?) as companion. :)
Yathinyathin on January 14th, 2009 04:38 am (UTC)
Oh yeah, I just thought it was two different snowmen!
