The south rim of the Grand Canyon - part 2
Here are the final photographs from Arizona and Grand Canyon. Fascinating place that.

The clouds hide a sun on a fine day at the Grand Canyon

And the sun tears through the clouds the light up the Grand Canyon...

The Grand Canyon lights up

The Grand Canyon vista

The brighter the sun gets, the more beautiful the vista

Rocks of all colors and ages...

The Navajo nation reservation just outside the park

The Colorado river before it goes off to carve out the Grand Canyon...

Looking down the Colorado river

A female Ruby-throated Hummingbird.

A Canyon Wren is looking out for breakfast

Utah Agave in the sun (thanks to Deann for the identification)

Wooooow !!!
Dude, My day is incomplete without seeing the new pics you post everyday.....keep doing it...waiting for tomorrow`s pics now. I am just feeling guilty that, I got to buy one good camera and just keep wandering places and capture them in the tiny box.

It nearly makes me homesick, except I remember that the Grand Canyon is not the whole country, but the photos are SO lovely. I remember, though, driving into the Canyon area, how appalled my son was by the miles of broken glass from beer and booze bottles that lined the highway (alcohol being prohibited on Indian reservations and the empty bottles being tossed out of car/truck windows heading in).

Too bad that people ruin the roadsides in the national parks. :-(

If you're there in the afternoon, just hope for cloud cover because I noticed the canyon gets quite hazy and you stop seeing the opposite rim in the afternoons.

I so badly wanted to go to monument valley and mesa verde on this trip, but there just wasn't enough time. :(

Yathinyathin on August 25th, 2008 04:29 pm (UTC)
What did you think this skinny thing was? :-)

an alien tentacle! :-)
still can't see what sort of plant it is. looks extremely weird. any idea?
Yathinyathin on August 25th, 2008 05:56 pm (UTC)
I have no clue. Here's a list of all plants found there:

I would think a biologist would be better qualified to look at it than a monkey that write software.
kejnkejn on August 25th, 2008 07:05 pm (UTC)
ok. alien tentacle it is! :-)

Flower Stalk
I think that it is the flower-stalk from a Utah Agave plant.

No matter if I have the best camera in the world, I will never be able to take photographs like this. Take a bow, Mr EXPHO (Excellent Photographer)!

the air bridge over the canyaon's lip

btw - did you get to walk the awesome air bridge? It was built by the Native Indians, and wasn't completed when I was in the US, big disappointment.

Re: the air bridge over the canyaon's lip
