Wild Dogs
I've always been lucky with wild dog sightings. They are endangered and not so common, but I've seen them more times than I can remember. This trip was just a little crazy - we saw wild dogs three out of four times that we went inside the jungle and that percentage is a little unbelievable. Anyway, these medium sized dogs are probably the most feared predators in the jungles. Tigers, leopards and bears all stay out of their path because these dogs hunt in packs and are very efficient in their well coordinated attacks. Fortunately, there are not many (any?) cases of them going after humans - no wonder they call dogs as the best friends of people! :)

A pack relaxing after a nice breakfast.

Drinking water after the meal.

Jumping out of the water hole. Notice the water dripping down it's tail.

The Alpha female. Always kept an eye on us and even dragged the kill away from us, so that they could eat in peace. Smart one!

Dhole in a water hole. Cooling off after the hunt.

Dholes tearing apart the carcass of a spotted deer

Pulling the carcass away from us...

Finishing up the meal.

Very nice photos. You are indeed lucky to have seen them in the wild. They are very much like wolves.

We get the same species of wolves in India (Canis lupus) that's found in the Americas! However, they are not found where I live, but are more common in the North Indian plains. The wild dogs are a slightly larger than coyotes but make up for their size by their social structure.

I am big wolf fan and I thought this might interest you, if it hasn't already :-)
Your work is impressive!
