I'm not sure if these were captive or free. They were out in the open, in a pond, next to the Shillong zoo and sure looked free to fly away if they wanted to. Anyways, these birds are rather photogenic. :)

Nice close-up of the pelican!

By faint chance if you haven't already, you should go to kokrebellur around 40-50kms away on Mysore Road.

Have been to Kokkre Bellur. :)

The Pelicans we get in the south are the smaller Grey Pelicans (now called Spot-billed Pelicans), and kokkre bellur is one of the rare breeding grounds for these vulnerable birds.

the details have come out really well.. quite impressive..
