Everyone knows about Cherrapunjee in the Khasi hills of Meghalaya - it's the wettest place on earth, with the yearly average rainfall of some 10000mm! The place is beautiful, with steep rocky cliffs and grasslands. It was one of those rare days when it was not raining in Cherrapunjee and I can only imagine how lovely this place would be in the rains.

Glad to know that you had a good time on your trip. Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. Love the colours in the first picture and the depth of the waterfall in the third. How high was the fall?

Wish you a Happy New Year!

Excellent pictures
I think you're an excellent photographer. Birds are not the easiest of subjects, but you do them very well./ Happy new year from Carolyn's husband Anders.

Re: Excellent pictures
I think the birds like you. A few weeks back I tried taking some shots of some birds in my garden, they seemed to be sneering at me. Heh! Heh!

BTW that Chirapunjee waterfall is AWESOME! You are having one heck of time there:-)

Just the Flavscent Bulbul is a crop, others are all full frame. 300mm is effectively 450mm on a D70 and I used the 2x convertor (making my lens setup effectively 900mm) for some of the smaller birds! ;)

Is this really Cherrapunji??
Wonderful pics!!!! Is this really Cherrapunji?? I've been there and when I was there the skies were so gray and dark and it was raining continuously. And it was so misty that I couldn't even see the waterfalls clearly. Never seen such a clear blue sky and fluffy clouds out there...you were lucky! :-)
