Baylands
Finally, I got some time to head out to one of my favourite places around here - twice in two days! The first trip was mostly a photography one and I managed to get some of the usual ones there and today morning was all about biking around the deserted and extensive trails! The biking trip was mostly to see other parts of the preserve which I've not had time to see so far and scout for places to visit the next time I head out with my binoculars and camera gear. Hours of cycling can be tedious and I think I should have remembered to leave my bag at home because the back really hurts when you're riding for a long time on a road bike.

An American White Pelican.

An immature Brown Pelican. Both species of Pelicans found in the US within a few hundred feet!

A Forsters Tern assuming non-breeding plumage is all set to dive for a fish. It actually caught a fish a fraction of a second later when I was busy checking out how the hovering shot had come on the camera LCD! Maybe I can get the action the next time.

Greater Yellowlegs.

Ma i see Pelicans from my balcony in Bangalore .... they look a little different ....... they are found only in this season so might be migratory birds ..... so where do you they fly in from !!!!

The ones you see there are Spot-billed Pelicans (aka Grey Pelicans) - they are resident birds in our area but keep moving locally.

Well, you did see a Coyote which I did not, but I don't recall you being even slightly interested in the birds I was running after.

Then we are VERY glad Y has a friend like you around. But I must tell you that everywhere these forest creatures have a way of avoiding the rest of us and coming and practically lying down at Yathin and Kalyan's feet....! I think some of the wildlife can spot good photographers when they see 'em.

Do you take a lot of photos too? (You can tell by my question that I am too lazy to visit your LJ just yet.)
