And then I saw snow for the first time...

These peaks were apparently 40 KM away, but they sure look very close and that's because they are well over 6000 meters!

Absolutely stunning pictures. Lately, i have been seeing a lot of the Himalayan mountain range and it makes me very happy. Love the greenish hue in the 1st picture and untouched snow in the 2nd.

You sure are lucky to see these wonderful sights.

Nice. I too experienced snow for the first time in my life when I was in Boston last year.

Stunning pictures. What lens? Did you use a polarizer?
Yathinyathin on January 4th, 2006 04:16 am (UTC)
Both pictures were using my 300mm f/4 AFS + UV Filter. I don't usually use a polarizer.

Both my pics are slightly underexposed (1 stop I think). Also, the weather and lighting has an important role in such pictures and I was lucky with that for this picture.
chandru_bv on January 4th, 2006 10:33 am (UTC)
yes, weather plays a very important role.

introduction
ok, i can't hold myself back any longer! i found your journal a while ago through idahoswede and now i've added you. i love looking at your stunning photographs and learning about the incredible indian nature.

my userinfo will tell you a little about me. i live in sweden and love taking pictures (and frequently post them in my journal) but i'm just a humble amateur with a compact. maybe some day i will grow up, learn all the basics and invest in a real camera. and move to some place with mountains! :-)

Hello. Yep, the mountains are an absolute beautiful place to be in.
drkishoremurthy on January 5th, 2006 05:55 am (UTC)
the greenish hue adds this almost unreal and makes it look something like an aribrush art.. brilliantly captured.. wow!

here is my first experience with snow.

whoa!
was just dropping by your journal..when i hit upon this!

Awesome... but just take a look at what sikkim looks without the snow! Beautiful place, but i could not even see kanchenjunga properly when i went!

Re: whoa!
Wow. Nice. I think I should go there during the rains someday since it's as charming as it is during the winter. :)
